After School Students Receive Dana College
Division
1-A Voice Competition Awards

Lassiter and Johnny Lowe, voice students of the Omaha School of Music and
students of Omaha Public School learned they received honorable mention at the
Dana College Division 1-A Vocal Festival and Adjudication on Thursday, April 9,
2008.
Both students are under the direction of Mr. Michael Driver,
founder and artistic director of the Omaha School of Music. Each student sang
Italian opera pieces. Miss Lassiter, a
Mezzo Soprano sang "Danza, Danza
Fanciulla". Mr. Lowe, a Tenor, sang "Caro Mio Ben".
Scoring was determined by three judges based on technique,
resonance, musicianship, diction and overall performance effect. Miss Lassiter received a perfect score on
musicianship associated with rhythms, dynamics, style, legato, and articulation. Mr. Lowe's highest performing area was
associated with resonance which includes tone, quality, chiaroscuro and
intonation. Mr. Driver stated, "the students had very nice performances and
they both have great potential" " I

for future competitions"
In addition to sponsoring on-going after school music education
programs, the Omaha School of Music will be sponsoring a fun and affordable
summer music and performing arts camp for beginning and experienced students
interested in piano, voice, dance, drama. wood winds, drums, brass, guitar,
violin, music theory, and music technology. Students must register by May 30th
and can do so by calling the studio at 455-1160.
